Route 52 will be Discontinued on Sept. 1, 2014
To our customers:
Effective September, 1, 2014, RTS Route 52 will be discontinued.
We are very sorry to disappoint anyone who has used Route 52. Despite robust promotional efforts, ridership remains significantly lower than anticipated and there are not enough customers to continue the service.
We continue to offer nine routes that serve the University of Rochester/Mt. Hope area. RTS Routes that serve the UR campus via Winton and Mt. Hope are 18/19; Routes 1 Park Ave or 17 East Ave are likely the two best options for customers who live in the Park Avenue area.
- 4 Genesee
- 5 South Ave
- 8 Chili/Strong
- 12 19th Ward/MCC
- 18/19 University Ave and Plymouth Ave

Route 52 was launched in September 2013, in partnership with the University of Rochester, to provide a direct route between East Avenue and Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).
We will continue to work to offer transportation options that make it easier and faster for RTS customers to reach jobs, shopping and medical care—and that includes partnering with the University of Rochester to explore public transportation offerings that meet the needs of their employees and patients.
