Getting On and Off the Bus
Boarding the Bus
The bus stops at all designated stops along its route. Stops are designated by a bus stop sign at the site of the road.
When taking the bus, you should arrive five minutes before the bus is scheduled to stop. While there are certain stops along the route where a bus will remain until its time of departure, the majority of stops have some fluctuation on when the bus will arrive, depending on traffic and weather.
Many stops serve more than one route, so be certain to read the sign above the windshield to make sure you are boarding the correct bus. This sign identifies the route it serves.
As the bus approaches, stand back from the curb. Keep your children close to you as well. The bus will approach as close as it is able to the curb, so be sure to give it room.
Once the doors open, step aboard. If you need help, let the bus operator know! All our buses are capable of being lowered in order to make it easier to step on or off the bus. If you use a power wheelchair or scooter, be sure to keep it in slow speed when boarding and exiting. The operator will be happy to help strap your wheel chair in place if you require assistance.
Paying the Fare
Coming in February 2013, all of the fareboxes will allow you to pay with a $1, $5, $10 or $20 bill. Credit is provided in the form of a Stored Value Pass (they never expire). If you are purchasing an all day pass, please tell the bus driver PRIOR to placing your money in the farebox. Click here for more information on the new farebox.
Cash can be deposited directly into the farebox, and passes can be swiped through the card readers (please be certain NOT to insert your pass into the currency slot as the driver cannot retrieve the pass). If the pass is valid, the farebox will beep.
For more information on fares you can ask your driver, or you can see the complete list of fares by clicking here.
Leaving the Bus
When you get close to your destination, get ready. Gather up all your belongings so that you don't leave anything on the bus. To signal the operator that you wish to depart at the next stop, pull the cord.
Once the bus stops, leave through the rear doors if possible to allow new passengers to board from the front.
DO NOT cross in front of the bus - school bus rules do not apply.
If you used the bike rack, don't forget to retrieve your bike.
